Corrie Avila is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker, Board Certified Telemental Health psychotherapist, and a Certified Clinical Trauma Professional. She has over 12 years of experience working with all ages and is currently practicing via Telehealth, in Virginia and Florida.
Corrie enjoys photography, being outside, laughing, and drinking coffee with friends. When she isn't working with clients, her days are often full chasing after her four boys and being a military spouse.
Corrie believes therapy should be a collaborative effort between the client and the therapist, often utilizing empowerment, mindfulness techniques, psychoeducation, and relaxation skills. Many of the therapeutic interventions done in-office can also be conducted via Telehealth. Corrie is well-versed in the most up-to-date software and HIPAA secure Telehealth practices.
Corrie holds additional trainings and/or certifications in the areas of trauma, PTSD, depression, anxiety, mood disorders, and perinatal mood and anxiety disorders (PMADS). She is also trained in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), which is an evidenced-based treatment methodology that has been proven effective in treating PTSD and trauma.
Corrie has practiced in a variety of settings, including private practice, telehealth, military, school social work, domestic violence (including in-shelter), outreach crisis centers, community mental health, hospital social work, home health, and hospice.
